Snake Bite First Aid at Home and Precautions

With beginning of summer season, incidents of Snake bites and other insects bite like Scorpion bite are increased. Rainy season further increases the probability of these poisonous menaces. About 2,500,000 snake bites and 125,000 deaths occur due to snake bites each year all over the world. You must be aware of snake bite first aid treatment, if you victim so anyway at home and follow preventive measures as mentioned below to reduce the risk of snake bites.

Most parts of the world are crowded with poisonous snakes. Commonly, these snakes are found in warmer and dense populated areas. So working in these areas need to be more vigilant and careful. Moreover, people living in these areas must remain aware about the presence of these snakes.

What to do if a Snake bites you and what happens if a Rattlesnake bites you? If anyone is bitten by a snake, below First Aid Treatment must be carried out immediately at home:
Don’t try to suck the venom or make cuts near the bite.
Keep upper body higher and give the patient rest, reassure him or her, and apply the pressure immobilization bandage over the bite as soon as possible.
Rush the patient immediately to nearest hospital.

Snake Bite Precautions

Snake bite protection is very important for saving precious lives. Following measures be adopted to reduce the chances of snake bites:
As you know, these bites occur mostly during dark and on the foot, so avoid wearing open sandal or sleeper after sunset and before sunrise.
Ankles boots must be used while walking at night, with trousers tucked in the socks.
Always shake shoes before use especially in morning.
Avoid walking near bushes at night or when you are alone.
Always take torch or candle with you before entering into a dark building especially on ground floor. Cleanliness and good house-keeping is essential at home and workplaces for snake bite prevention. The scattered items provide hidden places for the snakes.
Take safety measures once again and check all the places under entrance doors and open drains from which these snakes can enter.
Always shake bed before going to asleep.
Hedges and bushes around the fences provide hidden places for snakes and other reptiles. These hedges must be removed or cleaned frequently.
